Each week, Meadowlands racing analyst Bob Heyden ranks the contenders for the $1 million Meadowlands Pace on July 18

.

1. Well Said, Ron Pierce, Steve Elliott, Jeff Snyder, Lothlorien
Tries to become the eighth colt to win NA Cup and Pace. Ron Pierce: "I don't see any reason why he can't continue what he's doing and beat these colts in the Pace, too."

2. Art Colony, John Campbell, Casie Coleman, Tom Hill
NA Cup runner-up to Well Said is heading back in the right direction after some early season sickness.

3. If I Can Dream, George Brennan, Tracy Brainard, Bulletproof Enterprises
Rooney winner took the week off after finishing sixth in NA Cup. Full brother to Western Terror who did not live up to his name until the latter half of his three-year-old season.

4. Chasin Racin, David Miller, Brenda Teague, Elmer Fannin
Took a breather after finishing seventh in NA Cup. Consistent earner was second in $500,000 Hooiser Cup.

5. Drop Red, George Brennan, Bob Horowitz, Randy Perry
Uncorked convincing 1:49 score against older horses July 4. Broke stride in Canada, but is 10 for 11 on the board here and that should land him a spot in the final.

6. Hypnotic Blue Chip, Tim Tetrick, Mark Harder, Deena Rachel Frost, Stable 45, Robert Murphy
Closed from the clouds in :26.1 to grab fourth in race won by Drop Red against older horses July 4. Sets him up well for the Pace elims.

7. Lisagain, Andy Miller, Erv Miller, John Carver, Mystical Marker Farms
Third in NA Cup consolation and is getting better, but the hourglass is running thin.

8. Vintage Master, Daniel Dube, Jimmy Takter, Brittany Farms
Broke his maiden July 3 at the Meadowlands in a NW2. Colt must mind his manners early.

9. Schoolkids, Jody Jamieson, Tracy Brainard, Bulletproof Enterprises
Hung out to dry on NA Cup night and paid the price. Has quick speed, a very important ingredient against these.

10. Passmaster Hanover, Tim Tetrick, Blair Burgess, Jeff Snyder, Brittany Farms
NJ Classic winner passed on July 4 Jersey Cup because of a minor foot injury.
