The 11-year-old No Pan Intended gelding Intended Royalty took the lead and held firm on the point to best his rivals in the $1,700 Winners-Over Pace at Inverness Raceway on Thursday night (July 7).
Driver Redmond Doucet dashed the Randy Copley trainee to the lead before a :28.1 first quarter and faced little pressure from there from his two rivals in the scratched-down field. He coasted to a :57.1 half and to three-quarters in 1:27.4 before kicking for home and holding off a late move from Hippyjohn by three-quarter lengths to stop the clock in 1:58.2. Euchred rounded the field in third.
Randy Copley co-owns Intended Royalty with Edward Copley. The gelding won his third race from five starts this season and his 61st from 191 overall, good for $143,157 in earnings. He paid $6.70 to win.
