Mare Lowers Meadows Track Record

Firstclassprincess out-dueled Trotslikethewind for the early lead, then held her off late to capture Friday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Trot at The Meadows in a track record 1:53.2.

When Dave Palone gunned Firstclassprincess toward the front, Tony Hall and Trotslikethewind would not release them before stinging them in :27.3. They raced that way for the balance of the mile, with Firstclassprincess prevailing by a neck. Her time was the fastest ever trotted by a four-year-old mare at The Meadows, erasing the previous mark of 1:54 set by PJs Photo in 2011. JC Mik Mac Jillio came first-over for third.

Ron Burke trains Firstclassprincess, a daughter of Classic Photo-Princess Pan who now boasts $287,545 in career earnings, for Michael Andrew.

Just a day after becoming North America’s career victory leader, Palone kept right on rolling, driving four winners. Brian Zendt fashioned a three-bagger on the 15-race card.
