Good Friday Three earned his first local victory at Truro Raceway, defeating the top class pacers in front-end fashion on Friday night (July 6).
There was a three-way battle for the lead into the first turn of the $1,675 feature race, with Good Friday Three forging to the front between rivals by the quarter pole for driver Todd Trites. The former North America Cup starter clocked a :28.3 opening panel and half in one minute flat over the 'good' track while Rusty Riley began to advance first-over after taking a tuck into third early on. Rusty Riley moved up alongside Good Friday Three to challenge down the backside with the late-closing favourite Preceptor circling up three-wide from the backfield past three-quarters in 1:29.4. In a battle to the wire, Good Friday Three ultimately fended off Preceptor to score the half-length victory in 2:01 flat. Badlandia came on for third.
Nova Scotia's Dawn Ellis Abbott currently campaigns the six-year-old Mach Three-Smileallthewayhome gelding, who has sports a dozen wins and a six-figure bankroll.
