After having suffered severe injuries to its hip and back, DWs Don was not expected to be racing, let alone win
ning.
As Justin Rodriguez explains in a Times Herald-Record piece, nobody can figure out how DWs Don actually injured itself. At one time it was thought that the three-year-old Dilbert Hanover gelding should be retired. Having just won by six lengths at Goshen, DWs Don, to date, has given his connections $24,679 reasons why they should keep him on the track.
"It's amazing that he's been able to hang with the big boys," trainer Jeffrey Deslandes was quoted as saying. "We'll keep racing him as long as he's healthy."
