In what manager David Reid described as a “very solid, successful, workmanlike sale,” Preferred Equine Online (PEO) wrapped up its July 5 Mixed Sale with 14 of the 20 lots that were offered sold for $369,000. The sale averaged $26,357.

The top seller in this installment’s “all-racehorse” sale was the well-bred sophomore trotting filly Elegant Mermaid 2,1:57.3, an Ontario Sires Stakes Gold winner last year at two who represents terrific broodmare value when done racing. She was purchased for $56,000 by Josh Green after being sold by PEO as agent for Sara Baillargeon, who has very successfully sold horses in the company’s recent online sales.

The sub-1:50 pacer Fabrizio N sold for $52,000. The Sweet Lou import has earned $52,615 so far this season and took a mark of 1:49.3 at The Meadowlands, where he competes in the upper conditioned classes. Aaron Waxman was the successful bidder.

Two other horses sold for $42,000. Captain Keen, who paced to a new lifetime mark of 1:51.1 at Pocono on June 20, was purchased by Greg Luther and the $229,000-winning Shadow Play mare Cyclone Sister was purchased by Paul O’Neil.

Horses not sold are still listed on the sale page under “Make Offer,” some with the asking price shown alongside.

Reid said that racehorses that are in-form, competitive and show fast lines continue to be in extremely high demand, which bodes well for those who are now entering horses in the Tattersalls Summer Mixed Sale, to be held at the Meadowlands on July 26.

He noted the date for the next Preferred Equine Online Mixed Sale will be announced later this week.
