Road To The Hambletonian (Vol. 7)

The Meadowlands Racetrack has released the seventh installment of its ‘Road to the Hambletonian,’ and a familiar face sits atop the poll.

Wolfgang, the 2017 Matron winner by My MVP, remains in the top spot off of his win on June 16 in the $266,000 Goodtimes at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The Jimmy Takter-trained and Yannick Gingras-driven colt brushed to the lead before the half and maintained control to win by open lengths in 1:52.1.

“[Wolfgang] is a very good horse and you can do anything you want with this horse,” Takter said after the Goodtimes win. “He was a really big horse and a little bit immature [last year]. I drove most of his early races in Kentucky and he got better and better as the year went. He’s a very different horse—I don’t think we’ve seen a limit in him yet.”
