Racecalling Legend To Clinton

With the legends of harness racing scheduled to invade Clinton Raceway on Sunday, September 4 for Legends Day, it is only fitting that a legend from the announcer's booth be there as well

.

Clinton Raceway has announced that the one and only Roger Huston, whose voice is a staple of the renowned Little Brown Jug, will get up behind the microphone and call the $20,000 Legends Trot. A throng of other well-known announcers will also be calling dashes during the much-anticipated Legends Day Program.

Clinton Raceway will mark stop No. 128 on Huston’s long list of racetracks. As of June, 2011, the golden-clad race caller has been perched in the booth and cradled the microphone for over 157,000 dashes.

Over the past 10 years, Legends Day has helped raise over $120,000 for the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation. This year the goal is $30,000.

A raffle for the chance to win a VIP dinner for up to eight people with former NHL Stanley Cup and Olympic Champion Theo Fleury has been incorporated into the event. Tickets will be available at Clinton Raceway this Sunday (July 10), and the draw for the dinner (which will enjoyed on Legends Day) will be made on Sunday, August 28. Fleury will be available for autographs, pictures, and will be on hand for a trackside interview during the day’s events.

A colossal family chicken BBQ is planned to take place in the park, complete with children’s entertainment, games and activities for the entire family. Tickets are $12 each and will also be available this Sunday at Clinton Raceway. Get your tickets early to avoid disappointment.

The Roger Huston's fan club starts hear. If only WEG were lucky enough to have an announcer like him.

He made me laugh so hard I spit my beer out when he announced on Jug day that Ron Jeremy has had an equipment change. Ron Jeremy is now a gelding. I wonder how the namesake feels about that. LOL
