After having bred stars such as Deweycheatumnhowe, it's hard for 'retired' 85-year-old Hal Jones to simply walk away. "This is all I've ever known, all I've ever done. I have no desire to stop. What am I going to do, go sit on a beach in Florida? I don't want to do that."
Jones was yesterday inducted into the Harness Racing Hall of Fame at Goshen as a Living Legend.
The Hall of Famer's comments come via an article by the Times Herald-Record.
"Hal should have been in the Hall of Fame a long time ago," horseman Ray Schnittker was quoted as saying in the report. "He is just a very smart man. In this game, a lot of people blow money. There is smart money and dumb money. Hal's got smart money. He has as much pure knowledge of horses than anyone I know."
