Save America will make his third seasonal start on red soil Saturday, July 5 in Preferred action at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 14th race on the 15-dash Saturday card carries a $5,500 purse and features a compact yet highly talented Preferred 1 field. First race post time is 4 P.M. (ADT) for the Saturday bout.

Save America has post five in the field, and comes into Saturday's tilt fresh off a pair of front-end scores for trainer Jamie Smith barn and owner Thestable.ca. The son of Captaintreacherous-My Lady Day scorched the oval in 1:51 in his 2025 East Coast debut, followed by a commanding 1:50.4 victory from post eight over the same class on June 21. Regular pilot Ken Murphy will return to the bike Saturday.

A main challenge will come from the rail with Merigo Magic and trainer-driver Adam Merner. The Island-born son of Tobago Cays had raced the Preferred level at Woodbine Mohawk Park in the winter months and has only missed the board once since coming back home for owners Mike May, Herman McQuaid, Ian Walker and Derrick Cameron.

Blood Money (To be driven by Gilles Barrieau) holds down post two from the Ron Matheson barn. Dr. Mitchell Downey of New Brunswick owns the Sweet Lou stallion.

Post three belongs to Middleton Terror (David Dowling) for owners Kingsley Walsh and Frank Balcom. The Stonebridge Terror six-year-old has been a three-time winner this season.

Consistent performer Roll Em was a solid winner his last start at Red Shores Summerside in 1:53.1 and has post four in the Preferred Pace for driver Marc Campbell, trainer Landon Campbell and owners Savage Stable, Ryan MacLeod and Brent Campbell.

The Post Time Picks take the heavily favoured Save America to win again.

“Save America was unbeatable from post eight last time out, so the fact that he gets to move in three spots on the wings only makes matters worse for his competition. He wired the field in his first two starts, so I expect more of the same tonight.”

The afternoon card also features a wide-open affair in the sixth race, the $2,500 Provincial Credit Union Pace.

Rockin Novel (Marc Campbell) is the 5-2 morning line choice from post three for trainer Roy Reynolds and owner Reynolds Racing of Murray River, P.E.I. The Alberta-bred son of Mystery Chase was third his last start while race timed in 1:55.1. His main challenges come from Heres To Art (Murphy) and Roll Your Coin (Jason Hughes) with post seven.

Red Shores has launched the 20th Anniversary promotion for on-track players. Purchase $20 or more and receive a ballot for a chance to win $20,000 on Gold Cup night. Play at the track or from home through HPIbet, and download the new HPI app from the App Store.
