Pearl Washing Tan and John MacDonald captured the $10,274 featured fillies and mares pace at Vernon Downs on Thursday, July 31.
The Hunt Is On (Chris Long) darted out to the lead to set the tempo with an opening quarter in :26.2 and half in :56.3. Pearl Washing Tan made her move first over going around the final turn, notching the three-quarters first in 1:25.2. Pearl Washing Tan cruised down the stretch to win easily in 1:53.2. Unusual Clarity (Ron Harp) was second best and Ideal Entry (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) finished third.
Pearl Washing Tan ($5) is a five-year-old mare by Huntsville, owned by Peter Gentile Jr. and trained by Joe Sansone. A winner of 10 career races, the victory was her fifth on the season.
Frank Affrunti had a driving hat trick and Dylan Huckabone-Miller had a driving double.
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Friday (July 25) with a post time of 5:05 p.m.
