It was a tale of two trips in the second leg of the Atlantic Sires Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies as Bellafornow and Na Naa Said So took different approaches but achieved the same result in their respective $10,600 'A' divisions on Friday (July 31) at Truro Raceway

Bellafornow trailed her seven filly foes at the mid-way point in the first division before launching four-wide and storming home a five-length winner at the end of a 1:56.3 mile. Sent postward as a 14-1 longshot, she paid $38.80 to win after defeating favourite Woodmere Skyroller, who had set fractions of :27.4, :57.4 and 1:27. Elm Grove Ocean finished third over Rollwithitannie.

Trainer/driver Clare MacDonald co-owns the Ameripan Gigolo-Bucksforcody filly with breeder Dan Kaiser. Bellafornow, who won a pair of ATSS divisions during her freshman campaign, recorded her first win of the season from seven starts.

Na Naa Said So, the 3-5 favourite in the second split, retook the lead early and fronted the field of seven through fractions of :28, :57.3 and 1:26.3 en route to a three-length Sires Stakes score in 1:56 flat. Streakazana followed in second while Watch Me Dance came on for third.

Redmond Doucet drove the Westwardho Hanover-Goddards Art filly for trainer Robert MacLeod and owners Hugh MacEachern and Ali MacEachern. Na Naa Said So now has two wins and two seconds in her first four starts of the year. The win was her first in ATSS action, although she hit the board in three events as a rookie and missed by just a head in the 2020 opening leg earlier this month in Summerside.

The three-year-old pacing fillies will make their next Atlantic Sires Stakes appearance at Charlottetown Driving Park on August 15.
