It has been reported that punters looking to wager on horse racing via simulcast in Nevada sports books could be shut out effective Wednesday, August 1 due to a contract dispute between sports book owners and a systems operator.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal has cited Nevada Pari-Mutual Association Executive Director Patty Jones as saying that the Nevada Off-Track Pari-Mutual Wagering Committee's negotiations for a new agreement with pari-mutuel wagering and horse racing simulcast entity Las Vegas Dissemination Co. have not gone well, and that "the existing ... agreement is set to expire at the end of this month."
The article explains that the pari-mutuel committee, which is comprised of 11 licensed pari-mutuel race books, is given the authority by the Nevada Gaming Commission to negotiate a contract on behalf of all sports books in the state.
