A track record performance by three-year-old pacing colt Yru So Sirius was the highlight of a multiple-win day for trainer/driver Dave Kelly at The Track On 2.
Yru So Sirius ($6.70) won Sunday afternoon's fourth race in 1:54.1, equalling the track record for three-year-old pacers set by colt Im An Open Road last July and matched this past Monday by filly My Little Chloe.
Yru So Sirius led the field in the $4,800 conditioned pace through fractons of :27.2, :57.2 and 1:26.2 before holding off Westcoast Captive and Brandon Campbell by a quarter-length. Cenalta Token and Jamie Gray finished five lengths back in third.
Unraced as a two-year-old, Yru So Sirius earned his second career win to go along with three other top three finishes from 10 starts. Kelly trains, drives and co-owns the Captive Audience-Outlaw Star Bright colt with Mike Dicks and Richard McPhee.
Yru So Sirius was one of five winners driven by Kelly during Sunday's eight-race card. The Track On 2's meet-leading horseman completed a training triple with the maiden-breaking colt Cease Fire ($2.90) and the streaking Captain Fireball ($2.80) then capped off the afternoon with winning catch-drives aboard Therealgoods ($3.70) for trainer Richard Schneider and Strange World ($6.80) for the John Chappell stable.
