The trip was perfect for Windmeredontuworry in Thursday’s $2,500 Open Trot at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and the five-year-old didn’t let it go to waste.
In rein to teamster Gilles Barrieau, Windmeredontuworry got away fifth while Glider Man shot to the top from Post 7 and supplied the field with fractions of :29.4, :59.2 and 1:28.2. Hop Up came first-over on the way to the half, and Barrieau was second-over with Windmeredontuworry. Those two pressed on after the leader through the middle stages of the mile, but it was Windmeredontuworry using a :31.2 closing panel to post the win by a length over Hop Up in 2:00.3. Glider Man faded late and settled for third prize.
Sent off at odds of 6-1, the son of Armbro Barrister-Ginternal Revenue won for the second time this season and for the 13th time in his career. Lloyd Hannah trains the winner in excess of $60,000 for owner Eric Johnson of Summerside, PE.
