Statebreds visited Yonkers Raceway Tuesday for the New York Sire Stakes Mike Sorentino Trot. Three divisions of three-year-old colts and gelding went for $97,725 each, and form held thrice.
Crazy About Pat (Cat Manzi, $2.70) traversed the track in a spiffy 1:56, taking the first event by a comfy 2-1/4 lengths. Leaving from post position three, Crazy About Pat put down intervals of :28, :58.1 and 1:26.2 and was never threatened at any point. Blackwolf Run (Sam Schillaci) was a loose-pocket second, with Tirade Hanover (Jim Morrill, Jr.) third.
For Crazy About Pat, a son of Crazed owned by (co-breeder) Patricia Stable and trained by Noel Daley, it was his fifth win in 13 seasonal starts.
The second grouping saw Order By Keeper (Brian Sears, $3.50) close inside to snap a second-over Modest Prince (Jeff Gregory) by a neck in 1:58.2. The former, pocketed from the pole, sat behind Up Front N Crazy (George Brennan), who led to the lane (:28.4, :59.2, 1:28.4) before tiring. As for Modest Prince, he tagged along behind West Side Story (Per Henriksen), then was done no favours when that one jumped it off in the final turn. Wannacmyguns (John Stark, Jr.) was third, with Columbia Lion (Brent Holland) fourth.
For Order By Keeper, a Credit Winner colt trained by Nancy Johansson for co-owners Christina Takter, John Fielding, Joyce McClelland and Order By Stable, he's now 4-for-9 this season.
Pine Credit (Charlie Norris, $3.70) won the draw, then gave nothing else a chance in the final sire stakes event. He parked out DWs Spartacus (Manzi), then threw down weigh stations of :28.2, :58, 1:27.4 and 1:57.1. Theraputic (Jim Morrill. Jr.) did get second, with Crazed N Lindy (Mark MacDonald) finishing third.
For Pine Credit, a son of Credit Winner co-owned by (trainer) Erv Miller, Harvey Eisman and Paymaq Racing, it was his second win in eight seasonal tries.
