With Bobby Clark in the bike, Minettas Nightstar took command off the gate with stablemate Dewinton Destroyer and Keith Clark following her lead. Minettas Nightstar reached the opening quarter pole in a brisk :27.3 and continued on to the half in :58. She began to kick away for her rivals down the backstretch and opened up an insurmountable lead on the field by three-quarters in 1:25.3. The Brandons Cowboy-Lucky X Ample filly pressed on to score in a career-best 1:55 flat by four and a half lengths with her stablemate holding off Feelin Flush (John Chappell) to place.

Minettas Nightstar paid $3.60 to win as part of the 4-5 favoured entry. Keith Clark owns the winning filly with John Hind of Calgary, Alta. and the runner-up with Doris McDougall of Cochrane, Alta.

For Minettas Nightstar, the win was her third in eight seasonal outings and seventh lifetime. She now boasts over $86,000 in career earnings.

Keith Clark also won with his pupils Kg Tigress and Blue Star Charger, and the Carl Archibald-trained As Seely Promised during the 11-race program.
