Majorca N and Itsrockandroll A each won their respective $20,000 Open events on Monday (July 3) at Harrington Raceway.
Michael Casalino and Dylan Davis' Majorca N ($11, Corey Callahan) overcame post eight to improve to three-for-three at Harrington this season in the Mares Open in 1:53.3. The eight-year-old Art Major mare settled in fifth early but made steady progress near the three-quarters and grinded away at leader Feeling Sweet before winning a narrow photo over the latter. My Kiwi Lady N was third. Trained by co-owner Davis, Majorca N earned his fifth win of the year.
Meanwhile, an eight-year-old A Rocknroll Dance gelding, Itsrockandroll A ($3.60, Allan Davis) notched his fifth win of the year for trainer Don Brittingham and owners Elizabeth and Bret Brittingham in 1:52.3. Itsrockandroll A pursued a third win of the meet via a front-end effort in which he led the group through the fractions from post six under heavy pressure at three-quarters by Heinikin Bythebay, who surged three-wide and was a game second, but unable to get by the winner. Baba Oriley was third.
Lisa Simmons' Harper Seelster ($6, Tony Morgan) started the card by notching her third straight win for trainer Ryan Bailey in 1:54.2.
Also on the undercard, J&T Davis' Advance Man ($4.60, Allan Davis) was a 1:51.4 winner for trainer Tyler Davis in a $40,000 claiming event. It was the seventh win of the meet for the five-year-old Sweet Lou gelding, who has 12 wins this year.
Andrew Glassmeyer and TLB Racing's Ocean Ridge N ($2.40, Tony Morgan) recorded his third straight win in a $25,000 claiming event in 1:52.1 for trainer Brenda Teague. It was one of three wins on the card for Morgan.
Jim Morand, Allan Davis and Montrell Teague each had driving doubles.
Live harness racing will now go on hiatus with the annual Governor's Day of racing during the Delaware State Fair on July 27 (post time 7 p.m.), before the resumption of the meet on Aug. 14.
