Johnnie Jack ($2.10) stole soft early fractions before speeding away to a 2:00.1 score — his second win in a row — in Saturday's (July 3) $1,500 winners-over pacing feature at Northside Downs.
Johnnie Jack sprinted clear of Hotlikewasabi into the first turn and clicked off a :30.1 first quarter. As driver Ryan Campbell rated middle splits of 1:01.3 and 1:31.3, pocket sitter Hotlikewasabi faced a sustained first-over challenge for second from 29-1 shot Runaway Mystery — yet Johnnie Jack remained clear of that duel throughout. The four-year-old Westward Ho gelding edged clear by 2-3/4 lengths at the eighth pole and maintained his advantage while driven out, capping his mile with a :28.3 sprint home. A resurgent Hotlikewasabi finished second — closing back to within 1-1/2 lengths — while Runaway Mystery held third after being rebuffed off the home turn.

Travis Campbell owns and trains Johnnie Jack, who now has won 12 of his 32 career races.
