Veteran teamster Ted McDonald put together a three-win performance at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday evening, and it was more than enough to earn him

the 3,000th victory of his career.

McDonald entered the card with 2,998 wins to his credit, and he cut his magic number in half thanks to a neck decision in Race 3 with Shes A Seven. The McDonald trainee, who is owned by Lloyd Stone, rallied from off-the-pace and stopped the teletimer in 1:56.2.

The 3,000th win came behind Flatter The Guy three races later when he cruised to a 1-1/4 length score in 1:59.1 for the duo of McDonald and owner/trainer Luc Loyer of Gatineau, QC. McDonald tacked on one more win with in Race 11 with Legal Front, who wired up his foes in 1:57.1.

McDonald, a career winner in excess of $13 million to date, has racked up more than $1 million in purse earnings in each of the last five seasons. He has hit the $1 million mark eight times in his career.
