The Guy Corbeil-trained Montreal Phil led the field of seven through fractions of :26.2, :54.2 and 1:23.1 before churning out a :30.1 final frame to post the nose decision over Its A Good Thing. Peenie, who’d missed nearly a month of racing, closed from last to finish third.
The son of Blissfull Hall-Matter Of Money, who was sent off as the 5-2 second choice in the wagering, registered his second win of the season from 10 trips to the track for Hudson Standrdbrd Stb Inc of Hudson, QC. The 25-time winner boasts career earnings in excess of $214,000.
Trainer Sebastien Giroux enjoyed another solid night at the office thanks to his three-win performance on the 15-race card. His winners were Shipp To Morgan (1:59), Lakers Vett (1:56) and Pembroke Dandy (1:55.4).
