Waiting On A Woman, by Northern Bailey, overcame a bit of a tough start to earn his second top-level win in three weeks in Monday's (July 27) Open Trot at Saratoga Casino Hotel.
Driver Phil Fluet asked the 12-year-old Northern Bailey gelding for some early speed, and they squared off in a :26.4 first-quarter battle with rival Mister Muscle (Shawn Gray). Mister Muscle made it to the top and got a half in :56.2 but wound up tiring in the stretch as Waiting On A Woman closed up the inside. to score in 1:56.1. Long shot Mugshots Bro (Jay Randall) charged off his cover to become a stretch threat before ultimately coming up second best, while Mister Muscle earned the show spot.
Waiting On A Woman, whose featured victory was the 77th of his career, is trained by Kyle Spagnola for owner Mike Polansky.
