One Hand Keg Stand ($15), driven by Jeff Long, charged late to win the $6,800 Fillies & Mares Open 4 Pace at Tioga Downs on Friday (July 27).
Juice Hanover (Matt Romano) established the lead, hitting the first quarter in :27.1 before Sinspirational (Aaron Byron) took over by the :56.3 half-mile mark. Gold Star Aurora them took them to three-quarters in 1:25 and she looked like the winner at the top of the stretch.
One Hand Keg Stand was ninth at the halfway point and seventh at the three-quarter mark. Owned by Robert Fleming and trainer Timothy Miller Jr., she looked like a rocket ship in the stretch, flying by them all to prevail in 1:55.1. Goldstar Rockette (Corey Braden) also fired late to finish second. Juice Hanover was third-best.
One Hand Keg Stand is a four-year-old mare by Lislea. The win was her fifth this season and counted as career victory number nine.
Outsidecourt ($55) was an upset winner in the $6,800 top trot with Jim Taggart Jr. aboard.
Vicki All (Mickey Mc Nichol) controlled all the early fractions (:28.1, :58.1, 1:27.2) with Outsidecourt in fifth position after three-quarters. Owned by P&J Stables and trained by Gary Messenger, she went three-wide battling Barn Star (Jim Meittnis) and Vicki All from mid-stretch. Outsidecourt lunged at the finish line to win by a head in 1:56.4. Barn Star managed to finish second with Vicki All settling for third.
Outside Court is a five-year-old mare by Conway Court. The win was her second this season and 17th lifetime.
There is no live racing on Saturday (July 28) due to Wynonna and The Big Noise concert. Live racing resumes at Tioga Downs with a 13-race card featuring three divisions of the New York Sire Stakes on Sunday (July 29) at 1 p.m.
