Ramblinglily pushed her win count to 60 as she prevailed in the weekly top class at Truro Raceway on Friday evening (July 27), equalling the track record for aged mares.
Driven by Danny Romo, Ramblinglily went by pacesetter Ultimatelyhandsome (:28, :57, 1:25.1) to win the $1,675 Winners Over by three and a half lengths. Sent postward as the odds-on favourite after being collared at the wire in last week's leg of the Atlantic Aged Mares Pacing Series, she closed from third with a :28.3 final frame to post a season's best clocking of 1:55 flat and just missed her lifetime mark by one-fifth of a second. Woodmere Finesse finished third in the six-horse field.
The eight-year-old Articulator-Crafty Jewel mare, who has hit the board in all 10 of her starts this year, is owned and bred by trainer Allan Jones and Normand Leger. She now boasts a career record reading 60-29-16 in 122 starts with earnings of more than $178,000.
Ramblinglily shares the track record with Abby Best (2009) and Dirt Track Momma (2013).
