Sophomore pacing fillies headlined the Wednesday (July 26) evening card at Inverness Raceway in the Atlantic Sires Stakes with Our Girl Annie winning the $18,620 A division.
In the field scratched down to six, Our Girl Annie (Corey MacPherson) got away third behind leading Woodmere Jade (Myles Heffernan) and Summer Lovin (Jason Hughes). Unchanged, the field remained single file through the quarter in :28.2 and half in :57.2. MacPherson pulled his right line and sent Our Girl Annie to the top. She led from the outside as Woodmere Jade continued along the rail to her inside. After the three-quarters in 1:27.3, Our Girl Annie cleared the front and opened up in the stretch to a three-length achievement in 1:57.1. Woodmere Jade was second with Summer Lovin third.
Eddy Doucette trains Our Girl Annie for Blaine, Jessica and Jennifer Thibeau as she moved her seasonal record to 4-1-0 in seven starts. The Arthur Blue Chip daughter moved her career record to 10-2-2 to go along with a lifetime bankroll of $83,818.
MacPherson doubled up in stakes driving wins after Howmac Jazzy Girl won the $4,000 ATSS B division for trainer Fred Paynter.
MacPherson and Howmac Jazzy Girl were the race pacesetters as they led the field through panels in :29.4, :59.3 and 1:29.3, opening up every step of the way. The sophomore Pang Shui filly crossed the wire with a 13-1/4-length advantage in 1:58.2. Jgsjumanji (Heffernan) was second and Whims Wonder (Marc Campbell) took third.
Fred and Carrlee Paynter co-own Howmac Jazzy Girl with Debbie and Neal Ramsay as the filly won her second race of the season and fourth career victory. It was a career best time for the Howmac Jazzy Girl, who paid $5.10 to win.
Rotten Ronnie closed out the 10-race card winning the $1,800 Winners Over Pace for trainer Lennan MacIsaac.
Driven by Redmond Doucet, Rotten Ronnie led the field of six through panels in :29.1, :58.1 and 1:28.3 before winning by 5-1/2 lengths in 1:57.1. Windemere Best Man (Rodney Gillis) finished second and Sunshine Lou (Donald Gillis) rounded out the top three.
Doucet and Andy Stewart co-own the five-year-old Rotten Ronnie as he won his seasonal debut. It was his 16th career victory, moving his bankroll to $86,319. He paid $2.70 to win.
