The spotlight shone brightly on two-year-old pacing fillies Tuesday evening at
Two divisions – each worth $20,000 – went postward early on the card, with Sylvia Hanover and Treacherousdame prevailing in their respective assignments.
Bob McClure guided Sylvia Hanover to the narrow triumph in the first division, and she did so in upset fashion.
Sent off at odds of 9-1, the daughter of Always B Miki-Shyaway powered to the early lead and had the field chasing her past the quarter pole in :27.2, but she gave way in the backstretch to race favourite Bankers Luck who then chopped out middle splits of :57 and 1:24.4. Those two sprinted to the line together, with Sylvia Hanover’s closing quarter of :26.2 proving to be just enough for her to prevail by a head over Bankers Luck in 1:51.2.
Shawn Steacy trains the first-time starter for Hudson Standrdbrd Stb Inc of
Treacherousdame rallied past stablemate Treacherous Penny in the closing strides to capture the second division in 1:53.1.
Doug McNair tucked his charge into an early three-hole while Treacherous Penny motored to the lead and whacked out fractions of :28.4, :58.1 and 1:26.2. Treacherousdame kicked into gear in the lane and her :26.1 final quarter proved to be the difference maker as she prevailed by a length over Treacherous Penny. Rounding out the Trifecta ticket was Always B A Star.
Tony Alagna trains the daughter of Captaintreacherous-CPA for owner/breeder Willow Oak Ranch of Rogersville, Tennessee. The victory was the first of her career.
