Only one favourite was victorious during Monday night’s (July 26) Pick-5 sequence at Yonkers Raceway, leading to no winning tickets being held. As a result, there will be a $4,499 carryover and a $15,000 guaranteed pool in Tuesday night’s (July 27) Pick-5.
The Pick-6 was also unsolved, and there will be a $2,759 carryover in that wager.
The guarantee in the Pick-5 is being offered as part of the United States Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering Program. Free past performances for the Pick 5, courtesy of TrackMaster, will be available here. The Pick-5, which begins in race five, has a takeout rate of 20 per cent, as does the Pick-6, which gets going in the third race.
One of the upsets came in the night’s featured $45,000 Open Handicap Pace, as Jacks Legend N (Matt Kakaley) went to the lead from post seven, chopped out fractions of :27.3, :56 and 1:23.3, and held off a determined first-over bid from 4-5 choice Nandolo N (Jason Bartlett) to win by a head in 1:51.1.
Jacks Legend N, a seven-year-old Bettors Delight gelding, is co-owned by trainer Josh Green in partnership with Rich Lombardo Racing, David Kryway and Eric Good. This was Jacks Legend N’s 23rd career win, and he has now earned $563,377. Sent off at 5-1, he paid $12.60 to win and was atop a $50.00 exacta and a $187.00 trifecta.
Tuesday night’s 12-race program starts at 7:15 p.m.
