Zorgwijk Jock Wires Preferred Trotters

Zorgwijk Jock closed out Friday night's harness racing card at Grand River Raceway with a wire-to-wire victory in the $7,000 Preferred 3 Trot for Canada's 2014 leading driver and trainer.

Trevor Henry drove favourite Zorgwijk Jock to the win in the finale for reigning Trainer of the Year, Richard Moreau.

Leaving from post four, the eight-year-old son of Southwind Lustre carved out fractions of :28.2, :57 and 1:26.4 en route his 25th lifetime victory in 1:58.2. Osprey Vision (Dave Boughton) followed one length behind off a pocket trip with Falcor Bluestone (Scott Coulter) right there in third. Zorgwijk Jock paid $4.50 to win.

The victory was Zorgwijk Jock's seventh in 22 starts this year and pushed his seasonal earnings to $35,064 and lifetime bankroll to $271,372. He is owned by Gaar Racing Stables of North York, Ont., Sylvain Descheneaux of Sorel-Tracy, Que., and Sean Hibbert of Corbyville, Ont.
