The connections of Pickpocketprincess would be the first to note that the winner's share of the paycheque doesn't show the margin of victory.
Not only will the connections be happy with the lion's share of the paycheque, but the ground-saving trip that placed Pickpocketprincess into the winner's circle after the Saturday (July 25) feature at Exhibition Park Raceway will also be appreciated...although there were likely some tense moments. Bugger Max (Mark Haig) fronted the field early with Pickpocketprincess (John Davidson) sitting second. Father Ofthe Year (Dr. Mitch Downey) challenged the leader from fourth after the respectable :30.2 opening panel and managed to forge a neck in front while first-up at the 1:01 half.
Bugger Max was a persistent pest to Father Ofthe Year, refusing to pack it in and press on through a 1:29.4 third station. Father Ofthe Year was also stubborn and not willing to give in on the outside. Turning for home, Davidson was able to angle Pickpocketprincess out from the pylons and into the three path for a shot at leader Father Ofthe Year. Those two matched strides and hit the wire seemingly together, but Pickpocketprincess had the freshest legs (and possibly the longer nose) and she was able to get up for the 1:59.1 score.
