The Wednesday night (July 25) card at Inverness Raceway was headlined by a $2,500 Invitational Pace, and Ms Mac N Cheese ($4.90) used a pocket trip to beat her five male foes in 1:54.4.
Intended Royalty (Redmond Doucet) sped off to a clear early lead and tried to bottom out the field with early fractions of :28.2 and :56.2. Despite being able to keep four rivals in his wake, Intended Royalty could not evade Ms Mac N Cheese, who worked to within two lengths past three-quarters in 1:25.3 before trainer-driver David Ratchford angled her off the pegs to give chase turning for home. Ms Mac N Cheese lifted past Intended Royalty by three-quarters of a length, and her 1:54.4 mile was two seconds better than the previous track for older pacing mares.
Ms Mac N Cheese, a six-year-old daughter of Badlands Hanover, is now a perfect three-for-three for the Ratchford Stable NS after campaigning on the Woodbine Entertainment Group circuit as recently as June.
