“This is a great sport, and for a lot of people, this is their livelihood. But everybody is suffering, and some people just don't get it, and it pisses us off.”
The above quote is from Michigan-based owner Ed Sayfie, commenting on the current emotional climate within the state's horse racing industry.
Sayfie, well known for campaigning the legendary Admirals Express in Ontario on the Woodbine Entertainment Group circuit, made his comments recently in an article on mlive.com.
Sayfie went on to add, “This sport has suffered. We use to be the only game in town as far as gambling, but then the casinos came, and they hurt a lot. It was the gambling which was a draw to this sport.”
