Three-year-old pacing colt division leaders Mach It So and Roar will face off in the second of two $105,000 Gold Series divisions at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday, July 28.
Since capturing his division in the June 24 Gold Series season opener at Mohawk Racetrack Mach It So has strung together a three-race win streak. The Mach Three gelding captured his Canadian Breeders Championship elimination at Mohawk on July 13 and came back on July 20 with a personal best 1:50 effort to capture the final.
Richard ‘Nifty’ Norman trains Mach It So for Bamond Racing LLC of Brick, NJ. Through seven starts this season the gelding has tallied five wins and one second for earnings of $132,837. As a two-year-old Mach It So made just two appearances in the Ontario Sires Stakes program, capturing a Gold Elimination and finishing seventh in the final.
Scott Zeron will steer Mach It So after a fourth straight victory from Post 6 in the tenth race on Sunday.
Roar stormed to his personal best in the Gold Series season opener, clocking an impressive 1:49.4. The Mach Three son suffered interference in the Canadian Breeders Championship eliminations and failed to advance to the final, but bounced back with a 1:50.2 victory in an overnight event at Mohawk Racetrack on July 20.
Billy Davis, Jr. will fire Roar out of Post 4 in the tenth race for trainer Casie Coleman and owners Enviro Stables Ltd of South Hampton, NY. Enviro Stables principals Marc Hanover and Gordon Banks may feel some satisfaction no matter which colt wins. The pair bred Mach It So.
Rideau Carleton Raceway’s first race goes postward at 6:30 p.m. and the three-year-old pacing colts will wage their second Gold Series battles in Races 7 and 10.
