Trainer/driver Kelly Hoerdt treated Trust The Artist to a perfect pocket trip in Monday’s $8,800 Open Pace at Alberta Downs, and the pacer repaid him by stepping to a 1:52.2 triumph over four talented foes

.

Trust The Artist, who started from post four, slid right into the two-hole while Clintons Escape front-stepped the field through panels of :26.3 and :55.3. Clintons Escape was still on the lead at the three-quarter pole in 1:23.3, but Hoerdt was gaining on the outside with Trust The Artist. A final quarter of :28.2 was more than enough to earn Trust The Artist the 1:52.2 triumph over Hilldrop Shady and Neal Diamonique.

Hoerdt shares ownership on the seven-year-old son of Real Artist-Abreachoftrust with fellow Beaumont, Albertans, Blair Corbeil and Mike McAllister. The victory was the pacer’s fourth of the season and the 38th of his career. The veteran has banked in excess of $477,000 to date.
