Four weeks since his last appearance, a fifth-place and first off-the-board finish in his career, Beau Jangles showed signs of a triumphant return to the track with a solid qualifying mile on Friday, July 24 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
With regular driver Bob McClure at the controls, Beau Jangles cleared his only competition — Carrera Sunset N and driver Trevor Henry — through a :26.4 opening quarter. Beau Jangles then paced his middle half in identical :27.4 panels to hit the half in :54.3 and and three-quarters in 1:22.2. Under extremely mild urging from McClure, Beau Jangles paced home in :27.3 to trip the timer in 1:50. Carrera Sunset N finished nearly six lengths back.
According to a social media post from co-owner Graham Grace Stables, the plan for Beau Jangles — if everything goes according to plan — is for the colt to make his next start on Aug. 3 in the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold at Grand River Raceway on Industry Day, followed by the Cane Pace on Hambletonian Day, five days later at The Meadowlands.
The 2025 Horse of the Year in Canada and the U.S., Beau Jangles sports a record of 15-0-2 from 18 career starts with more than $1.95 million in career earnings. Dr. Ian Moore trains the son of Cattlewash-Mrs Major Hill for Graham Grace Stables LLC of Clifton, Va., Kiwi Stables LLC of La Plata, Md. and Bolton Stables, Clermont, Fl.
Moore indicated that 1:50 is exactly the range where he was looking for Beau Jangles to pace.
