Harry G and Woodmere Rollnpop were handy winners – and popular winners – in their respective $5,105 divisions of the Nova Scotia Stakes during Friday’s card of racing at Truro Raceway.

Sent off as the 1-5 choice in the opening division, Harry G sped to the lead from Post 2 and never looked back for trainer/driver Paul Langille. The colt cut fractions of :29, :59.1 and 1:28.1 before rocketing home in :28 to win by 5-3/4 lengths over Theycallmedude in 1:56.1. Brutusthebarbarian was third in the five-horse affair.

Arleen Gillis, Chantel Gillis and Christina Gillis share ownership on the son of Rollwithitharry-Chris N Tel Arrow. The win improved his 2020 record to 3-1-0 from five starts while bumping his bankroll to $22,051.

Woodmere Rollnpop blasted to the top in his division for trainer/driver Clare MacDonald, and once the gelding cleared it was game over for the others.

The son of Rollwithitharry-Shadow Dancer carved out fractions of :27.4, :56.2 and 1:25.2 before using a :29-second final frame to seal the deal by three lengths over The Big Chase in 1:54.2. Johnnie Jack took home the show dough.

The 1:54.2 performance matched the track record for three-year-old pacing geldings - a record that was initially established by Firms Phantom on August 4, 2001.

Sent off as the 4-5 choice, Woodmere Rollnpop won for the first time this year and for the ninth time in his career. The lion’s share of the loot bumped his earnings to $56,237. He’s owned by Nova Scotia partners Morah Kerr and Phonsie McEachern.

Ryder Matthews-Rennison broke his maiden as a driver thanks to a triumph in the seventh race behind Distinctiv Rusty.

He had the pacer on top through fractions of :28.2. :57.4 and 1:26.4 before using a :29.2 closing quarter to seal the deal in 1:56.1.

It was just the tenth lifetime start for the young reinsman.
