Revrac Harbour closed off a wild pace to capture one $14,000 division of the featured claiming handicap trot Monday night at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono, while in the other cut favoured Pounce Hanover controlled the pace en route to his fifth straight victory.
Revrac Harbour went postward in the very first race of the night, and he sat just off of a wicked early contest that resulted in fractions of :27.1 and :55 on a “good” track with a “+1” variant. Following cover to and just past the three-quarter pole in 1:25, the victorious Donato Hanover gelding swept three-wide on the far bend to get the lead headstretch, then held off the late charge of Joe Tucky, who had sat on his back throughout most of the last half, by a neck in 1:55.3.
Revrac Harbour was victorious for “Team Anagram” – driver Jim Marohn, Jr. and trainer Rob Harmon (check out their last names) – with Harmon also sharing ownership in the winner of $155,471 with John Campagnuolo and Victor Contento.
Later in the card, Pounce Hanover made two speed moves to take charge of the action, moderated the half, then drew away to a comfortable victory by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:55.1.
The altered son of Majestic Son is now 3-for-3 for trainer Hunter Oakes, who acquired him for $12,500 and saw him win here for a $20,000 tag, and as mentioned Pounce has taken five in a row overall, in addition to six of his last seven. George Napolitano, Jr. continued his winning ways behind the winner of $249,173 for owner Susan Oakes.
