Like a pair of heavyweight boxers, Scott Zeron and David Miller battled back and forth all Saturday night long over the course of the 13-race program at The Meadowlands, and when Miller delivered the final blow, emerging with Rebel Jet ($9.80) from just off the pace to win the finale, the duo ended the night deadlocked with five winners each.
Zeron scored with Aldebaran Eagle ($7.20) in the third, Odds On Delray ($3.20) in the fourth, Winning Linc ($42.80) in the fifth, Lindythefourteenth ($14.80) in the eighth and Moonlight Ransom ($4.80) in the 10th.
Miller’s earlier winners were Dial Or Nodial ($3.00) in the second, Dealt A Winner ($6.00) in the sixth, Bettor Rock On N ($4.20) in the seventh and Intheblinkofaneye ($2.80), who dead-heated with Yippity Hanover, in the ninth.
Tony Alagna trainee Odds On Delray (1:52.4) and the Frank Antonacci stable's Lindythefourteenth (1:52) gave Zeron a stakes double as their victories came in a pair of $10,000 Kindergarten Classic divisions for two-year-old pacing colts. A third Kindergarten division for the fillies was won by the Alagna-trained Shes Watching (1:52.1) and Yannick Gingras.
Dealt A Winner destroyed six overmatched foes in the featured $17,500 conditioned pace. The four-year-old gelded son of Cams Card Shark was never threatened on the way to a five-length win over Clear Vision in 1:48.2 for trainer Mark Silva.
One lucky bettor hit the fifth race 20-cent Jackpot Super High Five and walked away with $47,949.90. Winning Linc, one of Zeron's winners and another for Alagna, keyed the winning sequence, prevailing in the fifth race in the final strides at 20-1. He was followed across the finish line by narrow second wagering choice Spicebomb and favoured Jann And Dean. Uncle Nicky was fourth at 26-1 and the sequence was rounded out by 63-1 Gotti. The winning ticket was purchased through 4NJBets.com.
