Trot 4 Kids’ mascot, Willie Win has been quite busy this summer. The Standardbred Canada mascot made a guest appearance in
St. John’s, Newfoundland last month and just returned from Kawartha Downs’ 37th anniversary party last Saturday. Tomorrow, Saturday, July 25th, he heads to Mohawk Racetrack for their annual Community Day promotion.
Hockey great Darryl Sittler will be on hand for autographs and Willie Win will be helping Sittler and handing out hockey merchandise.
Starting at 5:00 p.m., the event will feature music, pony rides, face painting and more activities for the kids plus a mini trade show of community partners. Child Find Ontario will be on site with the KIDCHECK safety program, which encourages children to hold a personal safety booklet with their fingerprints, photo and information. St. John Ambulance volunteers will also be there to educate the public on how to install a child’s car seat correctly.
On track the feature events include four Canadian Breeders Championships, the Armbro Flight, Roses Are Red and the $730,000 Maple Leaf Trot. Post time for the first race is 7:30 p.m.
