Cant See Me lived up to her name in the $20,000 first leg of the Whenuwishuponastar Series for two-year-old pacing fillies at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Tuesday (July 23) evening after she bided her time in the mile and struck late to win off 10-1 odds in her first career start.
Little Papi (Jody Jamieson) secured control of the timer throughout the mile, followed by Charlotte Station (Louis-Philippe Roy) in second and Cant See Me (Bob McClure) in third. The top three maintained their order along the pylons through fractions in :28.4, :59, and 1:27.3.
Favoured Au Jus Hanover (James MacDonald) applied heavy pressure on the outside as the first-over starter just before the third quarter pole. Spoiled Beauty (Doug McNair) followed her cover. Cant See Me appeared locked in on the pylons and not a contender for the triumph as three fillies battled ahead of her. Spoiled Beauty gave enough room for McClure to wiggle out and storm to a 1-1/4 length score in 1:54, a final panel in :25.3.
Trained by Shawn Steacy, Hudson Standrdbrd Stb Inc owns the freshman daughter of Captaintreacherous and the Bettors Delight mare Unseen for her first career win in her first lifetime start. Cant See Me returned $20.90 to win from her longshot odds.
