The betting public liked what it saw in Archies Star in the Thursday evening feature at Rideau Carleton Raceway, and the gelding didn’t disappoint his backers.
Sent off as the 4-5 favourite in the $6,500 trotting tilt, Archies Star was parked out early while Fierce Magic buzzed along on the lead. He cut out fractions of :28.4, :58.1 and 1:28 before being overtaken in the lane by the rallying Archies Star. The winner kicked home in :29.2 to score by a pair of lengths over Fierce Magic in 1:58. Golden Dynamite was third.
Trainer/driver Guy Gagnon through his Ecuries Guy Gagnon Inc shares ownership on the three-year-old son of Archangel-Love Me Do with Gestion Louis Latulippe Inc and Gestion Bruno Blouin Inc. It was the third win of the season – and the fourth to date – for the career winner of $24,161.
