Lucrative Son lasted on the lead to win the Randy Kerr Memorial Trot on Saturday night (July 22) at Hiawatha Horse Park for the father and son team of Bill and Tyler Borth.
The three-year-old Majestic Son trotting colt Lucrative Son scored a maiden-breaking victory in the $4,000 trotting contest after leading wire-to-wire. He set up shop on the front end from post four and carved out fractions of :28, :59.1 and 1:30.4 on the way to the 2:01.3 triumph over the 'good' track conditions, holding off Jack In My Coke (Brad Moore) by half a length at the end. Blufrost Ballykeel (Gord McKnight) finished four lengths behind in third after his first-over journey.
Ingersoll, Ontario horseman Tyler Borth drives, trains and co-owns the homebred colt with his father Bill. Lucrative Son picked up his first career victory in his 13th start and paid $8.80 to win.
