Rose Run X Con catapulted to victory in the featured conditioned pace at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway on Tuesday, July 22.
In that $4,000 top event, Rose Run X Con ($8.20) sat fourth through early fractions of :27.3 and :56 before coming second-over for Norris Rogers en route to three-quarters in 1:25. His cover, Howmac Charmer (Corey MacPherson), reached the front on the final turn, but Rose Run X Con grinded him down in the stretch and parried the late charge of Sauble Attack (Ken Murphy) to prevail in 1:54.1. Sauble Attack came to within a quarter-length in second with Howmac Charmer a half-length behind him in third.
Rose Run X Con, a son of Mcardle-Stirling Delilah, races for trainer Nicholas Oakes and owner JD Racing Inc., of Cornwall, P.E.I. He has won three of his past four starts and is four-for-24 this year. The six-year-old gelding is a 13-time winner in 129 career starts.
Paul Langille had the hot hands on the night, winning four dashes. His victorious charges were Starship Beauty ($6.10) in 1:57.1 for trainer Kyle Williams, Magnificent Mia ($2.80) in 1:57.4 for conditioner Tammy Collings, and the Phil Sizer-trained duo of Brookdale Shelley ($11.80) in 1:56.4 and Brookdale J Mac ($2.60) in 1:57.
Murphy tripled up on the 15-dash card as Wizard ($4) won again for Alan MacDonald in 1:57.3, Coasttocoastshark ($2.40) delivered on the front in 1:57.4 for Jeff Wallace, and the Earl Watts-trained Starship Glyde ($5.10) prevailed in 1:55.1.
