Solo Victory has been knocking at the door for his first victory of the season over the past few weeks at Hiawatha Horse Park, and on Saturday night he hit the top spot with a determined last-to-first move in the featured $7,000 Preferred 3 Trot.

Solo Victory trailed the seven-horse field early on, but followed favourite CSI Buckeye three-wide at the half-mile mark and kept on coming to score in 1:58.2 by half a length. Latte Cafe finished third after applying first over pressure to pacesetter Now You See Him (:26.4, :58.1, 1:27.2).

Driver Richard Bonneau and trainer Shelley Bonneau of Tilbury, Ont. share ownership of the six-year-old New Victory gelding, who was the longest shot on the board at odds of 12-1. He returned $26.70 to win.

Although he only has one victory from 17 starts on his 2012 record, Solo Victory has finished second or third 10 times. The victory was his 17th lifetime and pushed her bankroll to $113,329.
