Chris Page showed why he’s the leading driver at Scioto Downs this season as he swept both the trotting and pacing Open features on Saturday night’s card.

Page won a total of seven races, half the program, at Scioto.

Page scored in the featured $15,000 Open Pace with Mcstraight, a son of Mcardle, in 1:52.1. He left quickly, then yielded to Cmon Blaze and driver Kyle Bolon. Page fired up his pacer in the final quarter and he paced past the leader to win by a length. In Theory was second while Chip Of Art finished third. Carl Howard and Brian Kohen, own the winner, who is trained by Virgil Morgan Jr.

In the evening’s matching Open Trot, Page and Morgan scored a double when Action SJ (by SJs Photo) rolled to a 1:55.3 triumph over J J Hall, the reigning Ohio Horse of the Year, and favoured Here Comes Jenny. Y Dat, a 14-1 shot, set fast early fractions while Page had Action SJ well back in the field. Y Dat surrendered to Here Comes Jenny with a quarter-mile remaining in the race and then Page had Action SJ trotting in high gear around the final turn. He took the lead and drew off to win by one and three-quarter lengths for owner Kenneth Sommer.
