The Atlantic Aged Mares Pacing Series continued on Sunday afternoon at Truro Raceway with J K Special and General Luckypercy delivering on their pari-mutuel promises in each of the $2,990 second leg divisions.

First leg winner J K Special ($2.70) doubled up in the series with a 1:56.1 front end score in her division. With Walter Cheverie in the bike, the seven-year-old daughter of Cammibest romped to a four length victory over the Darren Crowe-driven Mach Raiser and Darling Jane, driven by Danny Romo. J K Special notched her sixth win of the season for trainer, owner and breeder Joseph Smallwood of Stratford, P.E.I.

Fresh off a victory in the Lobster Carnival Late Closer Final last weekend, General Luckypercy ($2.80) went wire-to-wire to win her division by three and a half lengths in a season's best 1:56 with Ron Matheson in tow. The six-year-old Blissfull Hall mare was followed by Private Joke, driven by John Holmes, and Maddie G with Emmons Ralph MacKay. Jackie Matheson trains the winner, who finished third in the single opening leg division of the series on June 9 at Charlottetown Driving Park, for owners Jodilyn Matheson of Cambridge, Ont. and Jack Brown of Stratford, P.E.I.

Later on the card, Oakmont romped to a six and a half length victory, timed in 1:55.4, in the weekly $1,225 Winners Over Pace for trainer-driver Danny Romo. The five-year-old son of I Am A Fool, who finished fourth in the Governor's Plate last time out, notched his third win of the season in 10 tries. He paid $7.30 to win as the second choice, defeating favourite P H Bestman and Robert Laffin.

The Atlantic Aged Mares Series will continue on Saturday, September 8 at Fredericton Raceway and then move to Summerside Raceway on Sunday, September 16 before cumulating on Saturday, October 13 at Charlottetown Driving Park.
