Northside Hosts Atlantic Sires Stakes

It was the two and three-year-old Atlantic Sires Stakes trotters which took centre stage at Northside Downs on

Tuesday evening.

Glencove Umay won the first $5,220 two-year-old trot event of the card in 2:08.3 for owner/driver Carl Bagnall of Stratford, PEI. Dusty Lane Toby took the second place spot while Hopedale Brandy finished third.

Red Pajamas and driver Walter Cheverie won the second two-year-old event of the night in a time of 2:09.3 for owners Blayne and Sandra White of Belle River, PEI. Scarlet Patti grabbed the runner-up award while Diamond Mine rounded out the top three.

The three-year-old trotters also had their chance to shine at the North Sydney oval. Comere and driver Walter Cheverie took home the lion’s share of the purse in the first division thanks to a 2:04.4 score for owners Blayne and Kuri White of PEI . Windemere Power was second best and West River Tigger grabbed the show dough.

The final Atlantic Sires Stakes event of the night went to Grayland Bling in a time of 2:06.3 with Danny Romo holding the reins for owner Paul Gray of Pugwash, NS. Firedance Ridge grabbed the silver medal while the bronze medal went to Whiskeyandseven.

Atlantic Sires Stakes action continues Wednesday, July 22, when the two year-old pacing colts and fillies clash at Fredericton Raceway. Racing action will return to Northside Downs again on Saturday as the North Sydney track hosts the three-year-old pacing fillies.
