Buffalo Raceway’s 2009 season will come to an exciting conclusion this Sunday. The final week is busy and will feature New York Sire Stakes on Friday (two-year-old trotting fillies) and Saturday (two-year-old pacing colts). Also to be decided will be the top driver and trainer of the Hamburg Oval.
One final promotion takes place this weekend, as four couples will win a trip to the New York Sire Stake Night of Champions at Vernon Downs on September 26. The package includes limousine transportation, dinner and $100 cash. All entries that correctly select the winner of a designated race on Friday or Saturday will be eligible to win one of the magical packages.
The top driver and trainer may not be determined until the last race on Sunday. Trainer Sherri Holliday currently has the slimmest of leads as the top conditioner with 81 trips to the winner’s circle, through Sunday. Chasing Holliday is DJ Millner who has 80 wins.
The driver standings are nearly as close; Ray Fisher, Jr. currently leads with 141 wins. Last year’s leading dash driver Kevin Cummings sits five victories behind at 136.
Live racing takes place Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 6:30 p.m., and Sunday at 1:05 p.m. through July 26. Simulcast wagering from across North America is available Wednesday through Sunday year round in The Clubhouse.
