Thunder Alley was reunited with regular pilot Gerard Kennedy for the $1,600 Winners Over Pace on Saturday, July 20 at Northside Downs, and the reunion was profitable for all involved.
Sent off from the rail as the 4-5 choice, Thunder Alley made the front early and then didn't yield that lead for the 1,609 metres of competition. After fractions of :28.3, :58.2 and 1:27.2, Thunder Alley had plenty left in the tank and stormed home in :30.1 to trip the timer in a seasonal best 1:57.3. Last week's winner in class, Daddys Eyes (Ryan Campbell) chased valiantly but had to settle for second best this week with Shir Gain (Rodney Gillis) rounding out the top trio.
Paying $3.70 to win, Thunder Alley picked up his seventh win of the season and 31st lifetime victory. The son of Mystery Chase - The Three Of Us is trained by Heather Hawkins for Nova Scotia-based owners Terri Morrison of Marion Bridge, Irwin Claener of New Waterford, Kirk Macrae of Ben Eoin and Angus MacEachern of Howie Center. His career bankroll surpassed the $90,000 mark with the win.
