Corey MacPherson put the pedal to the metal with Sock It Away in Saturday’s $3,000 Preferred 1 for pacers at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and the gelding responded with an eye-catching score in 1:53.2.

Sock It Away, who left from the rail, had the field chasing him through fractions of :28, :56.2 and 1:24.3. He then fired home in :28.4 to win by 4-1/4 lengths over Euchred, with Czar Seelster taking home the show dough.

Kevin MacLean trains the four-year-old son of Pang Shui-Someone Like You for owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford, PE. The 29-time winner won for the second time this year while pushing his bankroll over $127,000.

In the $2,700 Preferred 2 for pacers it was Screen Test rallying from next-to-last and posting a 1:55.4 victory for teamster Corey MacPherson.

Sent off as the 9-5 favourite, Screen Test got away sixth while Bank Of Dad and Mick Dundee took turns on the lead through first half fractions of :28.2 and :57.1. Screen Test was on the move going to the half, and he exploded to the front as the field entered the backstretch. Screen Test was more than three lengths on top at the three-quarter pole in 1:26.2, and he used a :29.2 final frame to win by 4-1/2 lengths over the dead-heating duo of Mick Dundee and I C True Grit.

Stephen Gass trains the four-year-old son of Vertical Horizon-Starring Role for Kickin Horse Stable and William Andrew. The win was his fourth of the season and the 11th of his career. He recently surpassed $85,000 in lifetime earnings.

MacPherson tacked on three more victories to make it a five-win performance on the 11-race card.

He also visited victory lane with Knockout Punch (1:59.1), Painted Desert (1:59.2) and Hyesteria (1:54.2).
