In The $6,000 Minnesota-sired two-year-old ‘Class B Pace’ on Tuesday, July 19 at Running Aces, Mucho Macho Man ($3.60) lived up to the hype and favouritism by posting his first lifetime win, ‘graduating’ in just his third lifetime start.

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite in the nine-horse contest, driver Ryan Lems got him away third from the gate and sat through the :30.4 opening panel. Lems then sent Mucho Macho Man charging up to the lead past the three-eighths pole, and the outcome was never in doubt from there. Mucho Macho Man cut the middle fractions in 1:02.2 and 1:31.1 and then sprinted home in :28.4 to win by five and three-quarter lengths at the wire in 2:00. Mucho Macho Man is a gelding by Up Front Brad and is owned by Cheryl and Alan Sandbulte and trained by Robert Lems.

The $9,000 Minnesota-sired two-year-old ‘Class A’ was won by DeweyDidDoneGood and driver Dean Magee. DeweyDidDoneGood posted his third consecutive win, and he did it in a lifetime-best 1:57 for owner Richard Davelaar and trainer David Flynn. DeweyDidDoneGood paid $4.20 to win.

The $15,000 Minnesota-sired two-year-old trotting event went to LiQuorsKwikker (by Matchstick Man) for owners Ulf & Susan Holm-Johansen and driver Luke Plano. The gelding posted his first lifetime win in 2:05 and paid $19.60

The $11,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace was won by to Part Time Lady, who was seated into the pocket off the gate by driver Luke Plano. The duo waited patiently for the stretch drive to charge home in :28 and post a two-length tally in 1:54. Pacesetter Flick A Fly (driven by Rick Magee) finished second and Party Hangover Two (Steve Wiseman) checked in for third. Part Time Lady paid $21.60 to her pari-mutuel supporters, and notched her sixth win of the season for owners Ron and Tammy Wells and trainer Steve Wiseman. She now sports a career bankroll of $165,939. The win also completed a hat-trick on the program for Luke Plano, as he also registered a big late-charging win with his trainee, Moon Is On Fire, in 1:55.1 that paid $5.00 as the favourite.

The 50-cent $5,000 guaranteed late pick-4 wager in Races 8-11 resulted in a $746.70 payout for every 50-cent ticket. The winning sequence was 5-2-4-7 and odds in the sequence were 4-5/4-5/16-1 and 14-1

The next card of live harness racing will head to post at Running Aces on Saturday night (July 23) at 6:00 p.m. (CDT). Running Aces will be adding Wednesday racing, starting July 27 with a 7:00 p.m. first post.
